Please note that listings are paid annually each July to be listed through the following July. You have one month’s grace period to renew before your listing is removed. Fees are not prorated and listings must be approved by the Serving Our Seniors Executive Committee.

DIRECTORY CATEGORIES:

ADULT DAY SERVICES

A structured, daily and socially engaging environment that enables adults with memory loss to avoid isolation and provides respite to the family caregiver.

CARE MANAGERS

Professionals that provide services to assist families, seniors and their caregivers. Typically, a Care Manager can assess the needs, the living conditions and the general health of the senior. They can work with the family to set up systems to make things run smoothly for the family while taking the burden off. They can also make recommendations based on the seniors and family’s needs.

COMMUNITIES:

Independent Living:

A community style living for those 55 years and over. This would be best for a senior who is more independent and who would like a community environment and its’ amenities. Communities might have the following on site:

→ Apartment rental

→ Daily meals

→ All utilities & basic cable

→ Weekly housekeeping & linen services

→ Concierge & chauffeur services

→ 24-hour emergency response

→ On-site security

→ 24-hour staffing

→ Parking

→ Access to community amenities

→ Non-medical caregiving available for an additional fee

Assisted Living:

Assisted living communities help older adults with activities of daily life like getting dressed, grooming, and medication management as well as taking care of laundry, cooking, and housekeeping.

This also includes Board & Care or Residential Care Homes which are usually a house located in a residential area typically serving four to six residents–with some accommodating up to ten occupants. Many offer services to memory-impaired seniors. A Board & Care must be licensed as an RCFE (Residential Care For the Elderly).

Memory Care:

Memory care communities keep older adults with Alzheimer’s/dementia safe from wandering while also offering specialized care to help relieve anxiety and slow cognitive decline.

DENTAL

Independent dentists specializing in home dental visits and conditions experienced by seniors. Many offer house calls to private residences, board and care homes and assisted living communities.

DOCTORS

Independent doctors specializing in medical conditions experienced by seniors. Many offer house calls to private residences, board and care homes and assisted living communities.

END OF LIFE PLANNING

Getting your documents together and your wishes known with a trained professional who gives you peace of mind!

FITNESS

Physical fitness is great for brain health too and allows seniors to be more independent with activities of daily living.

FINANCIAL

Provide services that specifically serve seniors including lenders who focus on reverse mortgages; financial advisors and attorneys who specialize in Conservatorships, Wills and Trusts, Power of Attorney and Health Care Directive documents.

HOME CARE AGENCIES

Provide part-time and full-time Caregivers who provide services such as transportation, medication reminders, companionship, meal preparation and other non-medical help. These companies typically employ (W2), screen and train employees and will manage the staffing so families don’t have to worry about no shows, vacations, payroll taxes, and workman comp, etc.

HOME HEALTH AGENCIES

Home Health provides medically necessary nursing care following discharge from either hospital to home or from a Skilled Nursing to home. Doctors typically refer a patient that is ready to be discharged to a Home Health Agency. Home Health services are covered by Medicare in much the same way that prescription medications are covered; the patient’s primary doctor will prescribe what is required and the “prescription” requires renewing for services to continue.

HOME MODIFICATIONS

Home modification companies help make homes safe for seniors with devices to assist in daily living. Durable medical equipment includes wheelchairs, hospital beds, etc.

HOSPICE

Hospice services provide palliative care and medically necessary nursing services covered by Medicare for the elderly and by Medi-Cal for the disabled. These organizations deliver in-home visitation care for end-of-life support. Hospice services also include chaplain and counseling assistance.

INSURANCE

Insurance services can help from Medicare to Long Term Care insurance.
